Coming back this morning from the beach at Mar Grosso I caught sight of this little boat in the harbour at São José do Norte, not for the first time either that she caught my eye.
Elsewhere in this blog I have described parts of a movie, Kungsleden - The King's Path, comparisons amount to putting on airs of course, but still, the trip this morning was not so unlike Mathias' - returning alone from the Festa de Iemanjá and seeing the remains of the Missa de Nossa Senhora dos Navegantes, which is its Roman-Catholic hijacking.
being light, and so, willing to be almost
invisible; that is - a perfect servant;
but raged when I was crossed
and doubly damned for it.
Silly debates with old friends on the subject of death and stance. I remember Keith insisting that, "we live and die alone." And so we do, though it might be rephrased better as, "we may live alone, but we certainly die alone." It is this in-between time that interests me you see ...
In any event, the blogging has to stop. It remains, like so much of life, a fascinating possibility - but un-realized. A-and so, again quoting my old friend Keith ( as he mis-quotes Shakespeare),
"Things that love night love not such nighs as these."
(King Lear, Act III, Scene 2).
The question becomes, 'What to do instead?'
A-and then a nightmare ... running up stairs with a tray of food while the Stones played,
Well I told you once and I told you twice
But you never listen to my advice
Don't try very hard to please me
With what you know it should be easy
This could be the last time
This could be the last time
May be the last time I don't know
Oh no
Well, I'm sorry girl but I can't stay
Feelin' like I do today
Too much pain and too much sorrow
Guess I'll feel the same tomorrow
This could be the last time
This could be the last time
May be the last time I don't know
Oh no
Well I told you once and I told you twice
Someone has to pay the price
But here's a chance to change your mind
'Cuz I'll be gone a long, long time
This could be the last time
This could be the last time
May be the last time I don't know
Oh no
outlier / outlyer / out-lyer: an individual whose origins, beliefs, or behaviour place him or her outside a particular establishment or community; a nonconformist, an outsider. (OED)
1606 ... And in cases of disobedience the minister is ordeinit to proceed to the censure of the Kirk against the contumacious and outliers.
1675 ... You may call her an honest Courtezan; for though she is an Outlier, yet she seems to be confined within the Pale, and differs from your ordinary Prostitute, as Wholesale men from Retailers.
2008 (NYT) ... That makes the United States an extreme global outlier.
