Brasilia -- Brazil's largest political party yesterday rejected President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's offer to form an alliance in October's presidential election, deciding instead to run its own candidate.
The decision is a blow to the President, who last week offered the vice-presidential candidacy to the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party in exchange for supporting his likely bid in October, PMDB leaders said.
