30/10/06, IRIN, SUDAN: Government still seeking military solution in Darfur, Pronk says, (Archive).
26/10/06, Eric Reeves, Khartoum Expels Kofi Annan's Special Representative for Sudan, Jan Pronk, (Archive).

I should tag this post with 'boobage' too ... I am not going to make any further editorial comment than that ... well, I guess I will say 'you can always tell a Dutchman, but you can't tell him much', although it has no bearing here whatsoever; what can I say about Americans to balance it off I wonder?

I did mention these guys in a previous post not in the thread: This is the day which the Lord hath made. A-and a bit later on, dropping a line to Eric himself, found my self in a flame-war, hermetic rhetoric - ai ai ai! "Bugger off", he says to me. I must look up that scripture that the Mennonites use when they try to speak truth to their neighbours ... Matthew somewhere ... ?

And Ezra Pound and T. S. Eliot
Fighting in the captain's tower
While calypso singers laugh at them
And fishermen hold flowers

     Bob Dylan, Desolation Row.

Things are gonna to slide
Slide in all directions
Won't be nothing
Nothing you can measure anymore
The blizzard
The blizzard of the world
Has crossed the threshold
And it has overturned
The order of the soul

Global warming has shaped so much of human history and continues to tragically do so in Africa. Hopefully we will have a more internationally and environmentally conscious government now and realize this is not nature's debacle, it is man's.
